A chronicle of my adventures as an unemployed 20-something trying to make it in San Francisco.

So last night, I went to my first every poetry reading at Amnesia.  I was invited by Josh Caraco, who was reading an original poem.  (it was about time travel, sort of, and was really, really good).  Anyway, as I was standing in the crowd, drinking my beer, not understanding poetry, it dawned on me that I was witnessing some legit sh*t.  I mean this was like real deal hipster types, who were like really impressive poets.  Some were funny, some were sad, some were just plain zany, but all were pretty freakin’ awesome.  I must say, that being there I felt like a cool, hip person (I was wearing my favorite Springfield Isotopes hoodie). Perhaps I’ll go back… now if only I actually understood poetry…

Well anyway, being the product of modern media, while standing there, I also couldn’t help but think, “man, this place, these poems, this city, this all really reminds me of the poetry club scene in ‘So I Married an Axe Murderer’”… well for your viewing pleasure, watch the scene I had in my head as I felt cool listening to live poetry. Enjoy!
