Hello there Everyone,
Whelp, I had some visitors this weekend. My childhood buddy Ryan Saylor flew up from LA. Joining him was his roommate/buddy Brendan! (Brendan is to Ryan, what Scott is to me… heterosexual life mates)
So anyway, our weekend started Friday night about 10:30 when Ryan and Brendan’s flight landed. We proceeded to head back to my place with our sights set high for a fun friday night. Lucky for me, my friends come over to my apartment even when i’m not there, so we came home in time to find Ricky and a few others playing Frolf (frisbee golf) on Wii. Now Ricky headed out to the bar after we arrived, and Ryan, Brendan and I decided to drink at home a little first before we went out to pay those per drink bar prices… but ultimately we all ended up at the Elbow Room.
The Elbow Room is a pretty cool spot that, as it turns out, has a bunch of pinball machines!! Fueled by Ryan’s purchase of a Jameson Shot (yuck! especially, since the large tequila shot we took right before leaving the apartment wasn’t quite sitting right) Ryan and Brendan turned their attention to the Simpson’s pinball machine. I prefered to indulge my favorite baroom activity, which as most of you probably know, is to talk really loudly to strangers about myself. Strangers in this case being the friends of Ricky who I had just met…
Now all was going well at the Elbow Room, until “IT” happened… IT started gently enough, a slight sniff of the nose, then the gentle upturning of the nose, the first belief that some drunkard had “passed gas” in the vicinity… but the expectation for the normal was quickly crushed by the group’s realization that this was more than just some drunkard releasing a pressure buildup. This dreadful, pungent, noxious, overpowering aroma smelt more like an old drunk Horse had suddenly released it’s impacted bowels in the middle of the bar…i mean this was just so freakin’ horrible, i’ve honestly never smelt anything this high on the grossness scale… needless to say, the bar (and our group) cleared out almost immediatly… running for our lives and our olfactory nerves!… and that’s how friday night ended…oh wait, we stopped and got burritos which we inhaled before passing out shortly thereafter at about 2am. fin.
Saturday started off right enough, with a massive hangover! But we got ourselves together in time for the Giants game. Accompanying Ryan, Brendan and myself, was Brendan’s childhood friend Dave and his girlfriend Megan who both live in Berkeley. The game was fun, but the Giant’s lost to the Cubs 6-2… booo…
After the game, we headed home, got burrtios (again) saw a homeless woman wet herself (inside the burrito place), chilled out for a while, then Brendan, Dave and Megan went back to Berkley. Ryan and I proceeded to gear ourselves up for another fun filled Saturday night!
Saturday night took place at a house party. The hostess was a friend of Ricky and Scotts and was she ever a hostess. Free Beer, Wine and Flip Cup! A bunch of Stanford grads, most of ‘em lawyers, and once we showed up, we were able to insight a powerful flip cup riot!! As has become a custom, Ricky and Hiten unknowingly dressed exactly alike. Check out this post of mine to see the last time it happened…Oh and classic line of the night. Some douchy guy approaches this girl with the opening line, “Don’t I know you from somewhere” (he didn’t). We then proceeded to overhear most of this going on which finally culminated in his saying that he met so few cool pretty lawyers and could have her number. Her response “I have a boyfriend” was well stated… of course she didn’t…So that’s how that night went, fun times were had by all, I think we went to a bar after, but I must admit, my memory is a bit hazy…
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!! Sunday started off much like Saturday, heungoveur… however the agenda for the day was entirely different. Dave works at the Trumer Pilsner Brewery in Berkeley, and he gave us a private tour. It was freakin’ awesome! We saw how beer is made, how the plant is built, all the crazy different valves and pipes and we even got to climb a ladder!! We were also shown the assembly line for the bottles and kegs, the cold warehouse, and the other super big warehouse. Once again, freakin’ awesome. At the end, we were treated, by Dave, to some delicious Trumer Pilsner! Absolutely Awesome! oh and the beer is delicious, so if you can, I highly recommend you pick some up. If you’re drinking this beer in the US, it comes from this brewery!
The rest of the day was quite fun, as we headed home. We saw San Francisco’s famous Painted Ladies (at Brendan’s request). They were, of course, made famous to many people who know them as “the full house, house”. I actually hadn’t been there before, but it’s pretty cool to see. There are a ton of people there taking pictures, most of whom are talking about Full House… now if only I can figure out where the Smash Club is located…
Sunday evening ended with some relaxing people watching in Dolores Park. A perfect way to end the weekend as you’re surrounded by crazy hippies, people walking around playing guitar (and other random instruments) a relaxed open container policy, puppies running around, and homeless people to come around and collect your empties. It was a fantastic weekend with great friends and all involved had a great time.
Now, if you’re interested in a magical weekend of your own, please feel free to email or call me. I always welcome visitors!
