Hello Everyone,
So last night I went to a live stage performance of “The Night Man Cometh”  For those of you unaware, of what this is, it’s a live stage performance of an episode of the show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”.  This performance features the entire cast performing one of their hit episodes.  In this episode, Charlie has written an opera, which the entire gang performs.
The story follows a little boy (who is actually a man according to Charlie, but which confuses the cast greatly) who during the night get’s a visit from the “Night Man”. (who pretty much breaks into the house and rapes the little boy…Charlie explains this as being a metaphor…albeit a poorly constructed one)  Now somehow, the little boy becomes the Night Man (that is the metaphor Charlie refers too…but it seems an awful lot like rape) Eventually, the little boy fights off the night man by becoming “Day Man”, and all is happy in the world again.  There is also a grown woman waitress who is in love with the “little boy” (again a metaphor the cast has trouble understanding as it appears that this grown woman wants to have sex with a little boy) and a troll to whom the night man must pay a toll in order to have access to the little boy’s soul (pronounced “little boy’s hole” by the troll (Danny DeVito))  As funny as this all sounds, it’s even funnier when performed on stage!  (and not as offensive as you might think from reading my description)… no that’s a lie, it’s pretty offensive.
Now let me say this, aside from laughing my butt off, I mark this as the first time ever, that i was star struck.  From the very beginning when Charlie Day (who plays Charlie on the show) appeared on stage, my job dropped and I was just in awe.  Never before had I been so excited to see a celebrity.  The entire cast performing there live, just had me giddy the entire time.  I’m still smiling, it was sooo cool!
So, if you they’re touring again in your area (I think this tour ends tonight in LA), i highly recommend getting tickets.  And if you haven’t seen the show, check it out.  It’s on FX on thursday night at 9pm.  The new season just started, and it’s totally funny so far.
Oh and ps. this was hilarious, but at the show a guy in the front row was dressed as green man (see wikipedia page for an explanation).  At the end of the show, the cast was shanking hands and giving high fives, the green man ran up on stage and Charlie posed for pictures with him.  I was sitting in my upper balcony seat thinking that there goes the luckiest green man alive…
