A chronicle of my adventures as an unemployed 20-something trying to make it in San Francisco.

Hello Everyone,

Whelp it’s Monday, and so I thought I’d post some pictures to give you a bit of my weekend recap:

1. Well, we had a party on Friday night to celebrate my moving to San Francisco, and John’s leaving.  John is actually moving to Islamabad for at least 6 months.  Islamabad you say… isn’t that in Pakistan…well actually yes it is.  John, still on his quest to be one of the most amazing human beings ever, has taken a job with a company whose goal is to foster development in the under-developed world.  John’s 6-month stint will hopefully carry him through to a more permanent position in Washington D.C.  His friends are obviously hoping his company has a San Francisco branch.  Well that said, we partied pretty hardy to wish John on his way.  In fact we partied so hardy, that I kinda forgot to take many pictures.  So some of the posted highlights include “The Beer Fridge” and “Nate wearing a Hulk Hand”  (A Hulk Hand is a child’s toy that John re-purposed as a fashionable drinking koozie.  Also please note, these are the original Hulk Hands, not the recently re-designed versions which were tied to the newest hulk “film”)

2. We spent our Saturday morning recovering, and our Saturday afternoon at Ocean Beach.  Ricky, Scott, Shirley, and I decided to take in a little sun.  We actually had a bit of a heat wave in San Francisco, so this usually chilly beach turned out to be quite a nice spot to escape the heat.  The freezing temperature, sharp rip current, and threat of shark attack kept us out of the water…but I was able to spend at least a little time working on my tan.  Somehow I have managed to spend yet another entire summer maintaining my albino-esque skin tone, so this sitting in the sun was new for me.  It’s actually quite fun when Shirley brings ipod speakers, Scott makes Root Beer Floats, and Ricky informs you not only, that you should download the latest “Yelp” app on your iphone, but also that if you shake your phone 3 times you’ll unlock a hidden feature in the app…Iphone users try it, it’s a pretty cool feature (editors note, I had to shake my phone 3 times twice… you’ll know when you’ve unlocked the feature) So all in all, it was a nice little Saturday.  The pictures I’ve posted are of the beach itself.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get any group shots, although I really wish I did.  Something about a beach day with two white guys, a black guy and an Asian girl seemed amazingly multicultural… maybe I’m getting this San Francisco thing down more quickly than I thought!

3. Now Sunday rolled around, and believe me it certainly felt like a lazy Sunday… that was until Ricky came over and forced Scott and I to go on a run.  Now I know Scott and I pretty much owned the San Francisco Marathon a month ago… but I must say you’d be surprised at how quickly you can get out of shape!  To our credit, the three-mile run had two massively unfair hills…but had it not been for the free vitamin waters they were handing out at Dolores Park (free, but we had to pause for picture taken by the vitamin water lady…something about us runners drinking vitamin water…) I don’t know if I would have made it.  Scott came up with an early excuse in the run saying he might have to stop if his knee started acting up.  I easily and eagerly informed Ricky that I too would be stopping if Scott’s knee started acting up…  So after the run, we came home and decided it would be fun to make pizza from scratch that night (dough and all)… this decision to make pizza also conveniently provided an advantages opportunity to invite two females (Britney and Jenn) over for dinner.  For some reason, girls like guys who can cook.  Lucky for me, I hang out with guys who can cook… so while my fellow friends spent the evening toiling away kneading dough, cutting vegetables, adding flower, etc…. I did what I do best, which is to obviously monitor and manage the whole operation.  You’d be amazed at how people don’t know they should be washing the dishes they just used!  No but for real, while I did perform some supervisory duties, it turns out that I’m pretty darn good at chopping garlic and topping a pizza. (I personally think my mozzarella, onion and meatball pizza turned out best).  So all in all, the pizza was great (and big ups to Scott who did all the shopping and decided on the menu), the company was fun, and we ended the night eating pie topped with caramel ice cream, and watching the end of Jack Ass 2, which was conveniently already in our Blue Ray Player…

So that should pretty much catch you all up on my weekend… now how was yours?
